Betting Operations Tax Bill 2018 - Agreement to Introduce

Cabinet agreed the Treasurer present the Betting Operations Tax Bill 2018 in the Legislative Assembly. The Bill implements a new tax on the net earnings of betting operators that accept bets, or that provide a service for bets made by persons located in the ACT. The tax will apply when the net earnings of a registered operator exceeds a specified threshold and is payable by return. The Triple Bottom Line Assessment was considered by Cabinet on 24 April 2018 (18/59/BUD – ACT Point of Consumption Wagering tax – policy approval) as part of the policy approval.

Government Procurement (Secure Local Jobs) Amendment Bill 2018

Cabinet agreed the Treasurer present the Government Procurement (Secure Local Jobs) Amendment Bill 2018 in the August 2018 sitting period. The amendments in the Bill are aimed at ensuring the government awards contracts to entities that meet the highest ethical and labour standards. The Triple Bottom Line Assessment was considered by Cabinet on 12 December 2017 (17/591/CAB – Secure Local Jobs Package) as part of the policy approval.
