It was a pleasure to present six scholarships today to Canberra school students at the annual Country Women’s Association (CWA) scholarship presentation.
For over 20 years the CWA scholarships have been awarded to students who show commitment to their studies. The scholarships encourage the completion of school or vocational training by providing additional financial support to students to help them achieve their educational goals.
Scholarships can be used for any education expense, from books and stationary to other educational needs that may arise in the final year of education.
As the Minister for Education, I could not help but admire this year's recipients and their achievements despite experiencing hardships. The individual students were nominated for demonstrating aptitude, resilience and commitment to undertaking their final year and/or enrolled in a nationally recognized vocational course. I also acknowledge the scholarship winner’s supporters, their families, carers and our dedicated staff in schools who support these students.
I am very grateful to the CWA for their continued commitment to community improvement and contribution to the lives of young people in the ACT and across Australia. The collaboration between the Government and community groups, such as the CWA provides a boost to ACT students to help them successfully complete their studies.
