Suburban Land Agency CEO announced

Released 21/09/2017

I am pleased to welcome the appointment of Mr John Dietz as the new Suburban Land Agency Chief Executive Officer.

John brings significant management and leadership experience to the role, and joins the Suburban Land Agency from the Defence Housing Australia where he has been General Manager since 2011.

This role is integral to the Suburban Land Agency successfully carrying out the functions the government has set for it.

It is essential that as we shape our city and suburbs for the future, we are doing this work with a people-focused perspective, founded on the principles of good design and place-making, and delivered to stand the test of time for the city as a whole.

I am confident that John’s strong focus on community engagement and robust governance practices, together with his commitment to build an organisation based on good culture, transparency and participation will ensure we can deliver great outcomes for our community.

The Government’s performance expectations for the Suburban Land Agency for discharging its responsibilities under the City Renewal Authority and Suburban Land Agency have now been released for the information of the public and can be found on the Agency website.

Mr Dietz will commence in the role on 13 November 2017. His appointment follows an extensive nation-wide search and endorsement by the Suburban Land Agency board.

Quotes attributable to Mr John Fitzgerald, Chair of the Suburban Land Agency:

“I would like to acknowledge John’s strong leadership capability, and his demonstrated experience in delivering complex projects in the housing and development space.

“I have no doubt that John will ably lead the Suburban Land Agency to deliver the ACT Government’s suburban development program, including urban renewal in established town centres and suburbs and land release for residential, commercial, industrial, mixed use and community purposes.

“I look forward to working closely with John to deliver the goals that have been set for the organisation all while operating effectively and in a way that is socially and environmentally sustainable, manages risk and delivers value for money.

“I extend my thanks to Mr Neil Bulless for leading the organisation as interim Chief Executive during a period of significant change over the last three months.”
