NeuroMoves Program now available in Canberra

Released 28/02/2018

Spinal Cord Injuries Australia’s NeuroMoves program was formally launched in Canberra today. The ACT Government’s investment of $300,000 for a specialist gym means Canberrans with spinal cord injuries and other neurological disabilities no longer need to travel to Sydney to access the innovative rehabilitation and exercise program.

NeuroMoves will assist Canberrans and people from the wider region with conditions such as spinal cord injury, acquired brain injury, stroke, multiple sclerosis, motor neuron disease and cerebral palsy.

The program uses specialist equipment and a range of therapeutic exercises to help people achieve their individual goals for mobility, strength and fitness. In turn, this helps people become more independent, boosting their self-esteem and mental health.

During the 2016 ACT election, ACT Labor committed to providing the Spinal Cord Injury Association (SCIA) with funding of $300,000, through ACT Health, to establish a NeuroMoves Program in Canberra.
