Canberra’s culturally diverse communities called to apply for new Multicultural Advisory Council

Released 25/07/2017

Nominations are now open for a new Multicultural Advisory Council, which will support the ACT Government in ensuring Canberra continues to pave the way as Australia’s multicultural leader.

The Council will provide advice to the ACT Government on issues affecting culturally and linguistically diverse communities and will assist with the implementation of the ACT Multicultural Framework 2015-2020.

Another key task for the Council will be to plan for a Multicultural Summit in 2018.

People from diverse cultural backgrounds who may have an interest in representing their communities are encouraged to apply. The ACT Government is particularly keen to receive applications from people of all ages, with a range of experiences and backgrounds.

Following a successful National Multicultural Festival, which saw more than 280,000 people celebrate cultural diversity in Canberra, the Council will further strengthen Canberra’s reputation as a city in which culturally and linguistically diverse communities can flourish.

Nominations for the Multicultural Advisory Council close on 28 March 2017.
