First 126 Taylor-made housing options available by ballot

Released 06/01/2017

The first opportunity to own a residential block in the new Gungahlin suburb of Taylor will soon be available with the first 126 single residential blocks of this new development to be sold by ballot in March, Land Development Agency CEO David Dawes said today.

Registrations for the ballot will be open at www.lda.act.gov.au from 10 February and will close at 4pm on 20 February. Successful registrants will be notified of their place in the ballot draw on 15 March, with block selection and sales scheduled for 29-30 March.

“These blocks will be limited to one per person and this is a fantastic opportunity for Canberrans looking to get into the housing market to purchase one of the first pieces of property in what will be a wonderful new Canberra suburb,” Mr Dawes said.

“Blocks available in the first release are between 250 and 587 square metres and range in price from $221,000 to $383,000. There are 34 blocks under $300,000 available for land rent.

“An information expo will be held at the Kamberra Function Centre on 11 February where potential buyers can get more information about the planning and design of Taylor, the purchasing process and what can be built in the estate.”

Adjacent to Horse Park Drive north of Casey and Moncrieff, Taylor is just 4km from the Gungahlin Town Centre.

“Taylor will provide options for every stage of life and has been carefully planned to include an abundance of green spaces, central meeting places and amenities,” Mr Dawes said.

“Offering a sense of space in a convenient urban setting, Taylor will include a primary school, local shops, playing fields and playgrounds all connected through sprawling parkland.

“The primary school, which is being completed in the first stage of development, will be open for new students in 2018.”

When completed Taylor will have about 2,500 dwellings in a mix of low and medium-density housing options.
