Released 06/12/2017

Minister for the Arts and Community Events Gordon Ramsay MLA today announced that seven ACT arts organisations will be supported through the Program category of the 2018 ACT Arts Fund.

“Seven arts organisations will be sharing in more than $533,000 in arts funding as part of the ACT Art Program Fund. On behalf of the ACT Government, I am delighted to provide Program funding for Ausdance ACT, Australian National Capital Artists, ArtSound FM, Canberra International Music Festival, M16 Artspace, Screen Canberra and the You Are Here Festival,” Minister Ramsay said.

“Canberra is home to a diverse range of arts organisations and the ACT Government is proud to support a variety of innovative and accessible arts programs through its Program Funding.”

Amongst the organisations funded for 2018 is Ausdance ACT; whose programs support ACT-based dancers of all levels, abilities, ages and genres, and encourages the next generation of dancers through professional mentoring and career pathway programs. Ausdance ACT also has tailored programs for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander People, with a focus on young people, which ensures that all members of our community have access to the arts.

“The assortment of programs supported illustrates the dynamic nature of Canberra’s arts organisations and aligns strongly with the Government’s commitment to enable artists to create and produce vibrant art while encouraging active community participation in the arts,” Minister Ramsay said.

“This announcement is on top of the government’s recent announcement of over $922,000 in various arts grants, strongly demonstrating this government’s commitment to the arts.”
