Urban renewal to continue in Red Hill

Released 17/11/2017

After extensive consultation with the community, plans for a new development of up to 252 homes in Red Hill, have been approved by the planning and land authority before the sale of the 53,002m2 precinct – continuing the urban renewal of the area.

Minister for Planning and Land Management Mick Gentleman said extensive community consultation had been done around The Precinct Red Hill.

“There has been comprehensive community engagement on the development plan, including a series of workshops that provided community members an opportunity to contribute to the overall estate design.

“It was great to see so many members of the community come together to share their ideas which have made up the final estate development plan,” Minister Gentleman said.

“The final estate development plan has now been approved to ensure that the development will be consistent with the views that the community raised throughout the consultation process.

A technical amendment will now be prepared to give effect to the estate development plan. This technical amendment is now open for public comment. Under the Planning and Development Act 2007 this is a minor amendment that clarifies the planning provisions previously agreed in the estate development plan.

“The Precinct Red Hill when built will contain approximately 108 detached and terraced single residences, all with individual crown leases, and between 83 and 144 multi-unit apartments.

“The new development will be an exciting new urban renewal opportunity for the Red Hill area,” Minister Gentleman said.

“Planning measures outlined in the development plan will determine the arrangement of where buildings are placed, which will ensure residents retain solar access and views from their property.”

The sale of the site will take place later on in the 2017 18 financial year through an open tender process which starts on 18 November 2017. Tenders will close on Thursday 1 March 2018.

JLL and Colliers International are the sale agents for the site. For more information and to access the tender documentation visit: www.theprecinctredhill.com.au.
