More frontline ambulance staff across Canberra

Minister for Police and Emergency Services, Mick Gentleman, today joined ACT Emergency Services Agency Commissioner, Dominic Lane to congratulate the newest intensive care paramedics and call-takers for the ACT Ambulance Service.

Minister Gentleman presented certificates to the nine graduates at the ACT Emergency Services training centre in Hume.  

“I am pleased that the ACT Ambulance Service has received a boost to both its numbers and capabilities at a time when it is responding to increasing demand from our community,” Minister Gentleman said.

“Five existing ambulance officers are receiving an authority to practice as Intensive Care Paramedics, two of whom are also receiving advanced diplomas in paramedicine.

“In addition, four officers have completed a Certificate Three in Ambulance Communications and will join our communications centre as call-takers.

“Today’s graduates have worked hard in their respective areas of study and I congratulate them on their achievements,” Minister Gentleman said.

“The work undertaken by the ACT Ambulance Service is highly-demanding, but it is absolutely essential to the people of Canberra.”

“Ensuring public safety to the community is a priority for the ACT Government and today’s graduation was evidence of the Government’s ongoing commitment to Canberrans. This latest round of graduates will serve the community in their greatest time of need,” Minister Gentleman concluded.

Whether on the road dealing directly with sick and injured people or taking the initial Emergency Triple Zero (000) calls, graduates will be all be performing a vital role in responding to emergencies and providing a high level of care.
