Western Greenway community panel report released

Released 23/12/2016

A community report on the potential for urban development in western Greenway has been released, Minister for Planning and Land Management, Mick Gentleman, announced today.

The report was prepared by the western Greenway community panel, a group of key community representatives brought together earlier this year to help explore the suitability of land and potential urban development to the west of Tuggeranong town centre.

Chaired by Dr David Shorthouse, the panel included representatives from Tuggeranong Community Council and other key environment, heritage, community, business and sport and recreation groups.

“I’m pleased to release the final outcomes report prepared by the western Greenway community panel,” Minister Gentleman said.

“The report provides the views of the panel in relation to the development of land in western Greenway and puts forward a number of recommendations to government on next steps for urban renewal in the Tuggeranong region.

“I have asked the Environment, Planning and Sustainable Development Directorate to commence discussion with existing local community and recreation groups to consider how government can support their vision and ambitions for the area,” Minister Gentleman said.

“I’d like to thank members, in particular the chair Dr David Shorthouse, for their time and commitment to the western Greenway community panel. Each member drew on their community expertise and knowledge to contribute to the engagement process and to ensure the best outcome for Tuggeranong.

“The ACT Government will now work to address recommendations outlined in the community panel’s report. A copy of the report and all panel documentation is now available on the ACT Government’s Your Say website,” Minister Gentleman concluded.
