More government services available in Tuggeranong

Released 25/07/2017

Member for Brindabella, Mick Gentleman MLA, today visited the new Access Canberra Service Centre in Tuggeranong.  The Service Centre is the second to be opened in Canberra and the first on the south side.

“The first Access Canberra Service Centre was opened in Gungahlin in May last year.  It provides new and improved services to make it as easy as possible for the Canberra community to interact with the ACT Government.

“The Tuggeranong Service Centre is still located in the Homeworld Building.  Similar to Gungahlin, the Tuggeranong Service Centre provides a range of services that have, until now, only been available at separate locations. For example, births, deaths and marriages transactions, that until the opening of the Gungahlin shopfront was only available at Fyshwick.

While Gungahlin is a cashless facility, Tuggeranong will continue to accept cash and cheque payments.  The shopfront will also enable customers to complete transactions online using touch screen terminals.

“I was delighted to meet with customers and the hard working staff at the Tuggeranong Service Centre this morning.

“I am also pleased to announce the Tuggeranong Service Centre will now be opening earlier from 8am.  This is as a direct result of community feedback that suggested the earlier opening time.” Minister Gentleman concluded
