Dig deep for the Salvos Red Shield Appeal

Released 25/07/2017

Today I was pleased to support the Salvation Army’s Red Shield Appeal. The Red Shield Appeal is the Salvos major annual fundraising drive to help finance their important network of social and community services.

I was pleased to announce that the ACT Government is contributing $10,000 towards the 2017 Appeal.

The Salvation Army is a wonderful organisation which gives hope to those  people who need it most. The ACT Government is proud to be a strong supporter of not only the Red Shield Appeal, but the great work the Salvation Army does in our community day-in and day-out.

We see firsthand the difference the Salvation Army makes across the Canberra community. Many local services such as the Canberra Recovery Centre, Salvation Army Emergency Services, Moneycare and other counselling services are fully funded by the Red Shield Appeal.

This year’s Red Shield Appeal doorknock weekend will take place on 27 and 28 May and I encourage all Canberrans to make a donation or volunteer their time for the appeal.

Through initiatives like the Red Shield Appeal, the rest of us in this great city can help those who are in need.
