ACT Government again donates to Red Shield Appeal

Released 25/07/2017

Today I was pleased to help launch the Salvation Army’s Red Shield Appeal.

The ACT Government has again made a donation of $10,000 to kick off this year’s appeal. It is an important cause that has supported hundreds of Canberrans over many years, and the Government is proud to make a donation to the 2016 appeal.

This year’s Red Shield Appeal doorknock weekend will take place on 28 and 29 May. The Salvos is calling on all Canberrans to help them reach their fundraising goal of $1.6 million in the ACT.

All funds raised will go towards delivering a diverse range of programs, including alcohol and drug rehabilitation, emergency relief in times of crisis, financial counselling or providing accommodation for those who are homeless.
