Improving road quality and safety – works on Cohen Street intersection

Resurfacing work on Cohen Street will start on Sunday morning, 28 May 2017, and is expected to be complete by that evening. During the works, the intersection of Cohen Street and Nettlefold Street will be closed to traffic. Detours will be in place for the duration of the works.

The work will involve removing the existing pavement, laying a new asphalt surface and replacing the linemarkings.

Variable message boards will be in place to alert motorists of the work in the days leading up to the start of works, and barriers, warning and diversion signs will be erected while works are underway.

Effects on traffic

  • Traffic controllers will be on site to manage the closure and assist motorists as necessary
  • Motorists should seek an alternate route while works are underway
  • Detours will be in place for the duration of the works and motorists should allow additional time to reach their destination

Effects on public transport

  • Cohen Street Bus Station will be temporarily closed during the works to allow for asphalt resurfacing in the area
  • Passengers should use stops located at Westfield Belconnen Bus Station
  • Westfield Belconnen Bus Station will be the last stop before buses commence to service the northern suburbs

Location of closure

  • The intersection of Cohen Street and Nettlefold Street, Belconnen will be closed during the works
  • Nettlefold Street will be also be closed at Coulter Drive

Timing of works

  • Works will be undertaken between 7 am Sunday 28 May 2017 and 6 pm Sunday 28 May 2017, weather permitting
  • In the event of delays completing the work, the works will be undertaken on the next available Sunday as per the timing above
