Improvements for Transport Canberra Seniors MyWay Card users

Released 29/09/2016

Transport Canberra in partnership with the Council on the Ageing (COTA), ACT office, today announced improvements to the combined Seniors MyWay Card making it easier for users to access a range of services all with the one card.

“The introduction of a signature ID as part of the new Seniors MyWay Card streamlines usage and access for card holders” said Ian McGlinn, Director, Public Transport Operations.

Jenny Mobbs, Executive Director COTA ACT said “We are seeing a significant increase in the number of people applying for Seniors MyWay Cards, with almost 10,000 Canberrans issued with a new card in the last financial year. The new improved card comes after an extensive feedback process from card holders who, due to lack of personalisation, had issues using the card interstate and identifying card owners.”

“If you have an existing blue and yellow Seniors MyWay Card it is still valid for travel on ACTION buses. However, if you would like to update your card to the new Seniors MyWay Card, with the new Transport Canberra brand, you will need to apply for a replacement card.” Mr McGlinn said.

If you are over 60, a permanent resident of the ACT and working 20 hours or less each week you are eligible for an ACT Seniors Card. Applications for a Seniors card, including a replacement card, are available from Access Canberra Service Centres, ACT Public Libraries and the COTA ACT office.
