Work will soon commence as part of the ACT Government’s annual bridge maintenance program which will see repairs to joints and bearings conducted on several bridges across the region.
“These works are vital to ensuring our bridges are maintained to an appropriate standard,” Senior Manager, Roads ACT, Ken Marshall, said.
“Seven bridges are scheduled to have maintenance works over the coming weeks, following a series of bridge inspections conducted by Roads ACT. This will require some temporary lane closures to allow works to be conducted safely.”
For all sites, works will be undertaken lane by lane in order to minimise disruptions to the public. Working hours for the maintenance will be limited to between 9.30 am and 4 pm daily. Reduced speed signage will be in place during all work. Maintenance works are scheduled to be completed at the locations and times listed below. The community should be aware that this schedule is weather dependent.
Works on the bridge over Ginninderra Creek on Baldwin Drive, Lawson, are scheduled to begin during the week of 25 July 2016 and to be completed by early August 2016. Southbound lanes of William Slim Drive and eastbound lanes of Baldwin Drive will be subject to closures around the intersections of William Slim Drive and Baldwin Drive.
Works on the Molonglo River bridge on Tuggeranong Parkway, Stromlo, are expected to commence during the week of 2 August 2016 and be completed by mid August 2016. Lane closures will only be undertaken on the southbound lanes.
The Weston Creek bridge works on Streeton Drive, Weston Creek, are expected to commence during the week of 9 August 2016 and be completed by mid August 2016. Lane closures will be undertaken on both northbound and southbound lanes between Mulley Street and Hilder Street.
The Yamba Drive pedestrian underpass works in Isaacs are expected to commence during the week of
9 August 2016 and be completed by mid August 2016. Lane closures will be undertaken on southbound lanes between Long Gully Road and Julia Flynn Avenue.
Works on the floodway under Athllon Drive, Kambah, are scheduled to begin during the week of 17 August 2016 and be completed by the end of August 2016. Works will only be undertaken on the eastbound lanes between Florence Taylor Street and Drakeford Drive
Works on the bridge over Tuggeranong Dam on Athllon Drive, Greenway, are expected to commence during the week of 23 August 2016 and be completed by the end of August 2016. Works will only be undertaken on the southbound lanes between Florence Taylor Street and Anketell Street.
Works on the bridge over Isabella Pond on Drakeford Drive, Greenway, are expected to commence during the week of 1 September 2016 and be completed by mid September 2016. Works will only be undertaken on the northbound lanes between Isabella/Athllon Drive and Soward Way/Erindale Drive.
