Readiness for AVETMISS release 8.0

AVETMISS release 8.0 will apply to all training activity from January 1 2018. All RTOs must report 2018 activity data to the release 8.0 specifications.

In AVETMISS 8.0, there have been changes to some fields, some fields added and some fields deleted.

NCVER are running free AVETMISS 8.0 webinar question-and-answer sessions for RTOs. The first three of these are fully booked, with limited spaces in the three remaining webinar sessions to be run on 19, 26 and 28 September.

If you haven’t yet registered for one of these webinars visit https://www.ncver.edu.au/about/news-and-events/events/webinar-ask-ncver-release-8.0-q-and-a-session-for-RTOs to register.

RTOs are encouraged to participate in one of these sessions.

Skills Canberra has updated the ACT Vocational Education and Training (VET) AVETMISS Data Requirements to reflect the changes in AVETMISS 8.0. The new requirements will be available on the Skills Canberra website this week at: http://www.cmd.act.gov.au/skillscanberra/vet_admin/avetmiss

This specification should be read in conjunction with the NCVER publication AVETMISS data element definitions: edition 2.3 located at: https://www.ncver.edu.au/publications/publications/all-publications/statistical-standard-software/avetmiss-data-element-definitions-edition-2.3

Please note that the 2017 Full Year VET Provider collection (January to December) will need to be uploaded to AVETARS in AVETMISS 7.0 format. The closing date for the 2017 VET Provider collection is 15 February 2018.

We encourage all RTOs to validate data and fix any errors before the end of the year so that you only need to finalise your submission when the window opens. Your student management system will need to be capable of handling both AVETMISS 7.0 and AVETMISS 8.0 formats in early 2018

More information regarding release 8.0 can be found in the latest Data Support Bulletin located at https://www.ncver.edu.au/__data/assets/pdf_file/0040/957991/NCVER_DMS-186108-v6-CS_Data_Support_Bulletin_August_2017.pdf
