Council Meeting 10 October 2014

Members noted 22 October 2014 is the one year anniversary of the ACT Legislative Assembly passing the Marriage Equality (Same Sex) Bill 2013.
Council noted the final publication of the “Aged care issues raised by Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Intersex, Queer and HIV+ people in the ACT”. Special note was made of the support received from sponsors including ACT Gay and Lesbian Tennis Club, A Gender Agenda, Aids Action Council, Diversity ACT, Northside Community Services, Flash Printing and delene.com.au. The Council agreed to an embargo on further release of the document until an official launch. The Council agreed to release the publication at an official launch with the Minister.
BDMR regulation and implementation
Members noted there have been several inquiries from Justice and Community Safety Directorate (JACS) and several MLAs on the progress and view of the Council.
School chaplaincy program
Ian Goudie brought to the attention of the Council the agreement of Minister Burch to agree to the Commonwealths Government’s chaplaincy program. Ian Goudie will provide the council a brief on developments around this issue at the next meeting.
Invitation to participate in consultation on the 2nd violence against women and children action plan.
The Chair confirmed five council members wish to attend if available. Council members will confirm attendance independently to consultation organisers.
