Auditor-General Amendment Bill 2013

Cabinet agreed the Chief Minister present the Auditor-General Amendment Bill 2013 in the Legislative Assembly. The Bill makes amendments to the Auditor-General’s Act 1996 in accordance with the previous Government agreed recommendations to the Standing Committee on Public Accounts’ Inquiry into the Act. The Bill and Explanatory Statement will be available on the ACT Legislation Register following presentation.

Government Response to the Standing Committee on Public Accounts Review of Auditor-General’s No. 2 of 2011: Residential Land Supply and Development

Cabinet agreed the Government Response to the Standing Committee on Public Accounts’ Review of the Auditor-General’s Report No. 2 of 2011 on Residential Land Supply and Development.

International Cricket Council Cricket World Cup 2015

Cabinet was updated on the ongoing negotiations between the International Cricket Council and the ACT Government regarding the ACT’s participation as a Host City for the World Cup in 2015.

Road Transport Legislation Amendment Bill 2013 (No. 2)

Cabinet agreed the Attorney General present the Road Transport Legislation Bill 2013 (No. 2) in the Legislative Assembly. The Bill will establish an alcohol ignition interlock program to reduce re-offending in high-risk drink driving offenders. The Triple Bottom Line assessment for this Bill is available here . Justice and Community Safety Legislation Amendment Bill 2013 (No 3)

Cabinet agreed the Attorney General present the Justice and Community Safety Legislation Amendment Bill 2013 (No. 3) in the Legislative Assembly. The Bill makes amendments to existing legislation to improve and clarify sections of the Coroners Act 1997, Crimes (Forensic Procedures) Act 2000 and the Road Transport (Alcohol and Drugs) Act 1977. The Bill and Explanatory Statement will be available on the ACT Legislation Register following presentation.

Planning and Development (Territory Plan Variations) Amendment Bill 2013

Cabinet agreed the Minister for the Environment and Sustainable Development present the Planning and Development (Territory Plan Variations) Amendment Bill 2013 in the Legislative Assembly. The Bill makes amendments to the Planning and Development Act 2007 to clarify various sections of the Act and extend public consultation for Territory Plan Variations. The Bill and Explanatory Statement will be available on the ACT Legislation Register following presentation.

Appointments

Cabinet endorsed the re-appoint of Ms Sue Morrell and Ms Leanne Cover as public employee members for the Government Procurement Board, and endorsed the appointment of Ms Bronwen Overton-Clarke and Mr Stephen Goggs as public employee members. Cabinet agreed to endorse the re-appointment of other non-public employee members of the Government Procurement Board, subject to consultation with the Standing Committee on Public Accounts.

Cabinet endorsed the appointment and re-appointment of members to the Land Development Agency Board, subject to consultation with the Standing Committee on Planning, Public Works and Territory and Municipal Services.

Cabinet agreed to endorse the following membership of the Law Reform Advisory Council:

The Chief Police Officer for the ACT;

Justice John Burns, representative of the Supreme Court of the ACT;

Magistrate Lisbeth Campbell, representative of the ACT Magistrates Court;

Mr Stuart Pilkinton SC, representative of the Bar Association of the ACT;

Mr John Buxton, representative of the ACT Law Society;

Dr Helen Watchirs, representative of the ACT Human Rights Commission;

Mr Brendan Church;

Dr Lorana Bartels;

Mr David Heckendorf;

Mr John Kalokerinos; and

Ms Heidi Yates.

Cabinet agreed to endorse the appointment of Chair to the Children and Young People Death Review Committee, subject to consultation with the Standing Committee on Education, Training and Youth Affairs.
