Cabinet agreed to the submission of Gungahlin to Woden Light Rail – Submission to the Joint Standing Committee on the National Capital and External Territories to the Inquiry into Commonwealth and Parliamentary approvals for the proposed Stage 2 of the Australian Capital Territory light rail project.

Establishment of the Chief Minister’s Charitable Fund

Minute number: 18/389/CAB

Cabinet agreed to the establishment of a Chief Minister’s Charitable Fund with a financial contribution of $5 million in 2017-18 to provide additional support for Canberrans most in need and to leverage individual and private sector philanthropy.

ACT Government Response to the Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse

Cabinet agreed to the release of the ACT Government Response to the Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse in June 2018. Cabinet further agreed a Bill be drafted that will require institutions to nominate a proper defendant that is capable of being sued to meet claims of institutional child sexual abuse (Proper Defendants legislation) and to consult with key stakeholders on legislation.

National Housing and Homelessness Agreement

Cabinet agreed the Chief Minister sign the National Housing and Homelessness Agreement and consequential bilateral agreement with the Commonwealth Government.

ACT Housing Strategy – Public Housing Policy and Asset Management Plan 2019-20 to 2024-25

Cabinet agreed to progress a public housing asset management plan including agreement to key policy parameters.

ACT Government Position on the Intergovernmental Agreement on Biosecurity (IGAB) Review Final Report Recommendations and Agreement to a Revised IGAB

Cabinet agreed to an ACT Government position on the Intergovernmental Agreement on Biosecurity (IGAB) review final report recommendations and a proposed revised IGAB.

Bilateral Agreement for the National Psychosocial Support Measure

Minute number: 18/319/CAB

Cabinet agreed the Minister for Mental Health sign the Bilateral Agreement between the Commonwealth and the ACT Governments for the National Psychosocial Support Measure.

Government Response to Auditor-General’s Report No. 4/2018: 2016-17 Financial Audits - Computer Information Systems

Cabinet agreed the Treasurer provide the Government Response to the ACT Auditor-General’s Report No. 4/2018: 2016-17 Financial Audits – Computer Information Systems to the Legislative Assembly.

Under the requirements of the ACT Government Cabinet Handbook, no Triple Bottom Line Assessment was required for this item.

ACT Housing Strategy – Key Initiatives

Minute number: 18/154/CAB

Cabinet agreed to a framework for a new ACT Housing Strategy and a suite of measures emerging from the extensive community engagement, including the inaugural Housing and Homelessness Summit in 2017 and noted an assessment of the ACT Government’s previous effort to address affordable housing.
