Statement from Deputy Chief Minister Yvette Berry regarding Campbell High incident

Today at approximately 11:00am Thursday 18 October 2018, a Campbell High student was injured on Mount Ainslie and was transported to hospital for treatment.

Tragically this young person has since passed away.

I am deeply saddened by this terrible accident and express my utmost sympathies to the family, friends and loved ones of this young person, and the school community.

The ACT Government will support the family and the school in any way it can.

I encourage everyone to be sensitive to the family and the school community during this difficult time.

The Government places great importance on protecting the privacy of students and their families in our schools and will not discuss the details of this incident.

The school community has been notified and counselling and support is available to students, staff and their families.

ACT Policing attended and are investigating the circumstances of this incident.
