Enriching and enabling young women to Dream, Believe, Achieve

Released 30/07/2018

Applications are now open for the 2018 Audrey Fagan Young Women Enrichment Grants Program. The program provides young women with an opportunity to realise their dreams in a collaborative relationship with a mentor by making available one off grants of up to $2000.

Young women aged between 12 and 18 who are residents of the ACT or are undertaking study in the ACT are eligible to apply. The grants provide an opportunity for these young women to make decisions, take responsibility, and initiate projects in collaboration with experienced mentors.

Last year’s projects included empowering and supporting young girls through establishing online forums, connecting and celebrating Aboriginal community and culture through creating a possum skin cloak, and developing leadership skills and knowledge through personal interests.

The Enrichment Grants are a component of the Audrey Fagan Scholarship program established in 2007 to honour former ACT Chief Police Officer Audrey Fagan’s contribution as an inspirational leader and mentor for young women.

These grants encourage and enable young ACT women to develop or enhance their skills in their area of passion, and have the potential to increase women’s participation in decision-making and leadership roles both now and into the future.

Grants applications close at 5.00pm on Friday 31 August 2018. For more information on the grants program and to apply visit www.communityservices.act.gov.au/women
