Community feedback leads to a better pool at Stromlo Forest Park

Released 07/03/2018

Following feedback from the local community, as well as consultation with user groups, the ACT Government has improved the design for the Stromlo Forest park pool facility.

On top of the 50 metre lap pool, the facility will now also include a gym, splash park, leisure pool (including a toddler pool) and more seating throughout the Centre.

It’s great that the community have been so engaged with the process and the government has been able to respond to the feedback with these additional facilities.

Having spoken to future users of the facilities such as Triathlon ACT, and factoring in the 705 online submissions, I’m confident this pool will now be an important asset for the Canberra community.

The ACT Government has appointed Kane Constructions to design and construct the Stromlo Leisure Centre, a $36.6 million facility to be complete in early 2020.

Construction is expected to commence shortly.
