Grants of up to $2000 have been awarded to six young ACT women today to assist them in developing their skills and achieving their goals as part of this year’s Audrey Fagan Young Women’s Enrichment Grants program.
The successful 2017 recipients are Angela Lyons, Kiah Zeller, Jasmine O’Neill, Fatemeh Fouladi,
Ayuningsih Hancock and Ellen Scott. These young women will use their funding allocation to undertake projects in each of their chosen areas.
This year’s projects include empowering and supporting young girls through establishing online forums, connecting and celebrating Aboriginal community and culture through creating a possum skin cloak, and developing leadership skills and knowledge through personal interests.
I am pleased to be able to support these young women in their pursuit to achieve their goals, to contribute to the community and to become young leaders in their fields. Supporting young women today to prosper and lead is fundamental in raising the status and therefore the life opportunities and inclusion of girls and women in the ACT.
The Audrey Fagan Young Women’s Enrichment Grants are one way in which the ACT Government continues to develop opportunities for young women. This support is in line with the government’s commitment to the creation of a community where women are safe, healthy, equally represented, and valued for their contribution to society.
