Moncrieff gets a new play space

Released 27/09/2017

It was great to spend time today with local MLA Suzanne Orr and some new Gungahlin locals to officially open Moncrieff’s newest play space.

Moncrieff, in Gungahlin’s north, is coming to life with a range of recreational facilities for residents. Earlier this year Moncrieff’s first neighbourhood play space Dawson Park opened to the public and this second park will give residents another opportunity to enjoy the outdoors with family and friends.

Community access to parks like this supports the ACT Government’s commitment to active living by offering easy ways to integrate physical activity into daily life. Local residents can walk or ride a bike to the new playground which includes a six metre slide, climbing frame, large swing, music play areas, bongo drums and shaded picnic tables.

A number of mature trees have been retained and will be supported by new tree plantings around the park area to provide shade for visitors. The park is located at the top of a hill on Limb Circuit and has great views towards Black Mountain.

Already you can see the value in this project for local families with children having a wonderful time immersed in nature thanks to the support from ACT Playgroups. This will be a great way to keep them active during the school holidays.

Quote attributable to Member for Yerrabi Suzanne Orr MLA:

“I’m really pleased to watch Moncrieff grow and come together as a community. Parks and playgrounds like this one are where people can come together and get to know each other.”

“I look forward to seeing many Moncrieff residents using this new space over the coming years.”
