Funding to increase participation in sport

Released 25/07/2017

Today the ACT Government’s 2017 Inclusive Participation Funding Program (IPFP) has opened for applications. A total of $80,000 is available to assist the development of sport or active recreation opportunities for specific groups.

The primary objective of the IPFP is to increase participation in sport and recreation activities for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) people, older adults, and people with a disability.

Active lifestyles are a big part of the Canberra community and are strongly supported by the ACT Government. This program is an important way to support and increase inclusive sport and active recreation opportunities for our community.

I encourage any local organisations that currently provide inclusive sport activities, or are considering doing so, to apply for the available funding.

Funding can be used to implement new or existing sport programs; provide relevant training and education opportunities for employees; or purchase specialised equipment to increase sport and active recreation opportunities.

For more information on the IPFP, including Funding Guidelines and how to apply, please visit Active Canberra website at http://www.sport.act.gov.au/grants/sport-and-recreation-grants-program/inclusive-participation-funding-program-ipfp. Applications close at 11:00am Thursday, 6 April 2017.
