Delivering a better Belconnen High

Released 25/07/2017

The 2017-18 Budget will continue the delivery of a better Belconnen High School, with refurbished technology areas, upgraded outdoor learning and teaching environments and roof replacement.

This will complete the third stage of Belconnen High School’s modernisation, delivering a refurbished school with contemporary, best practice design for better learning. High school years are important learning years and this facility, along with great teachers, will continue to deliver high quality education to students in the Belconnen region.

The $5.9 million for stage three works to be delivered in this budget comes on top of $17.6 million the ACT Government has already invested in Belconnen High School’s modernisation. This has delivered a major refurbishment of student learning and teaching spaces as well as a new school administration area.

Along with delivering better learning spaces, this further investment will also help the school to meet future enrolment needs in the Belconnen area and make environmental sustainability improvements.

The ACT Government is committed to modernising and strengthening schools in established communities so that Canberra kids can find a place at good local schools close to home.

The 2017-18 ACT Budget will see the Government delivering on the commitments we took to the 2016 election in the areas that matter most to Canberrans. Along with delivering better schools for our kids, we will invest in better health care through our 10-year health plan and better services for our suburbs, while making the right investments to renew our city and maintain a strong local economy.
