Celebrating the Achievements of Year 10 Students

Released 25/07/2017

Today we celebrated the outstanding accomplishments by our Canberra public school students in their final year of high school.

It was so great to be a part of this celebration and acknowledge the wonderful achievements of our year 10 public school students.

The Year 10 Excellence Awards for Outstanding Achievement in the High School Years is the largest celebration of student achievement for Canberra public schools.

This year, 73 students were presented with an award and were supported by their parents, carers, family members, principals and year coordinators. I would like to thank both the families and teachers for the invaluable support they provide on so many levels.

These awards represent a year of effort, and also the culmination of many years of hard work, dedication, success and community service.

Today’s winners have been recognised by their school for their commitment to their school and to their local community. They are being recognised because they are exceptional young people.

The recipients have demonstrated qualities of academic excellence, creativity, sporting prowess and a keen desire to contribute to the world, beginning in their own backyards.

As a former Canberra public school student and now as Minister for Education and Early Childhood Development, it makes me very proud to hear about today’s students and the amazing people that they are.

The awards are presented from the following categories:

  • A successful learner
  • A confident and creative individual
  • An active and informed citizen

I would also like to thank and acknowledge Paperchain Bookstore Manuka for their continued support for this event and our students.

Congratulations to each of our award winners. I wish you all the best and I look forward to hearing about your future successes.
