$6.2M Phillip Oval redevelopment kicks off

Released 25/07/2017

Today I was joined by CEO AFL NSW/ACT Sam Graham and Cricket Australia CEO James Sutherland as well as representatives from NSW/ACT AFL and Cricket ACT to officially start the redevelopment of Phillip Oval.

The $6.2 million redevelopment is a partnership project between the ACT Government, AFL NSW/ACT and Cricket ACT with the ACT Government contributing $4.6 million and AFL NSW/ACT and Cricket ACT contributing $1.6 million collectively.

Phillip Oval redevelopment, when completed, will be a venue where Canberrans can enjoy community and elite level AFL and Cricket programs while players will have access to training and administration facilities for the sports.

The Phillip Oval will be an enhanced high quality facility and become the second tier oval for AFL and cricket behind Manuka Oval.

I look forward to AFL NSW/ACT, Cricket ACT and Canberrans alike enjoying the redeveloped Phillip Oval when completed.

The ACT Government is committed to supporting a healthy, active and productive community and this involves reducing barriers to access by providing high quality infrastructure.
