Public libraries closed tomorrow for annual planning day

Released 01/03/2016

Libraries ACT wishes to advise that all ACT public libraries, and the ACT Heritage Library, will be closed tomorrow, Wednesday 2 March 2016, to allow staff to attend the annual Libraries ACT planning day.

“It is important that all Libraries ACT staff come together for one day a year and have the opportunity to contribute to the planning of future services, programs, events and initiatives for the library service,” said Vanessa Little, Director, Libraries ACT.

“Due to the seven day per week operation of libraries, this is the only way library staff can meet together for this purpose.”

Ms Little said that regular programs, including children’s Story Time and Giggle and Wiggle, will not run on this day, nor will home library services.

“The community can still make use of all online services, including searching, reserving and renewing items online. After-hours return chutes are located at each library and are available for the return of library materials 24 hours a day.

“The Archives ACT service located upstairs at the Woden Library as well as the Civic Driver Licence Service located within the Civic Library will also be unavailable on this day. For driver licence, proof of age card and ACTION Gold card transactions visit Access Canberra shopfronts at Belconnen, Dickson, Tuggeranong or Woden.

“Libraries ACT would like to thank library users in advance for their patience and understanding.”
