Information evening for prospective ACTION bus drivers

Released 26/09/2012

ACTION is about to start recruiting for part time bus drivers with an information evening tonight, Wednesday 26 September 2012, for prospective candidates.

"The information session provides an overview of the bus driver recruitment process and training requirements," Director, ACTION, James Roncon said today.

"Prospective candidates will receive information about the positions, working conditions and wages," Mr Roncon said.

"When recruiting, ACTION look for people who possess strong customer service skills, have a full motor vehicle licence, are over 20 years of age, and are available to work within a seven-day week including night shifts.

"ACTION recruited and trained 84 drivers in 2011 and will continue recruiting in 2012 to fulfil network delivery requirements."

Mr Roncon said ACTION provides Canberra with a safe, effective and accessible passenger transport service.

"Applications open on Thursday 27 September 2012 until 30 June 2013. More information is available by calling 13 17 10 or via the ACTION website at www.action.act.gov.au," Mr Roncon said.
