Grants to support participation in the 2019 National Multicultural Festival

Released 10/08/2018

Applications are now open for the Participation (National Multicultural Festival) Grant Program. The grants
provide funding to highlight and promote community participation, cultural diversity and inclusion at the National Multicultural Festival.

A total of $85,000 is available for this round. Eligible organisations can apply for funding to:

  • showcase the vibrancy and heritage of multiculturalism through celebrations and events at the 2019 National Multicultural Festival;
  • foster cross-cultural awareness, understanding and respect and promote community groups and intercultural relationships; and
  • enable ACT multicultural communities to celebrate, preserve and share traditions and heritage through cultural performances (dance and music) and in other meaningful ways.

Last year’s 67 recipients used their funding for a wide range of projects including costumes, art materials and tools, and festival broadcasting technical support.

Canberrans love the variety of cultural performances and the celebration of diversity we experience every year at the National Multicultural Festival. The Participation Grants are a great way for community organisations to be part of the fun.

Applications close at midday on Monday 17 September 2018.
