Kate Ceberano kicks off National Multicultural Festival

Released 25/07/2017

Kate Ceberano has helped launch the 2017 National Multicultural Festival as Canberrans prepare for three days of culturally diverse food and fun in the heart of the city.

Kate shares a jam-packed program with local, national and international musicians and dancers representing cultures and communities from across the globe.

The Festival is pleased to welcome the South African a capella group, Africa Entsha, along with many other international acts including Sonik Waves, C Major, the Justin Yap Band and Titian Payne and the Big Island Express. These artists will join an array much-loved local acts such as Mi Terra, Los Chavos, Johnny Huckle, Groove Warehouse, Kulture Break and the Old 45s.

To keep updated with the all things Festival make sure you check the website www.multiculturalfestival.com.au and download our new festival app, which is available on iOS and Android.

We want all Festival goers, young and old, to enjoy Canberra’s favourite celebration of our magnificent cultural diversity as they delve into diverse food and cultural from across the globe.

This year, we have increased the comfort, safety and accessibility for all festival attendees by spreading out the number of stalls, expanding the Festival footprint to include Bunda Street and providing sanctuaries that offer a peaceful space away from the crowds.

The wonderful people from ACT Ambulance and St John Ambulance will be on hand at the Festival across the weekend.

To help beat the heat and ensure everyone is well hydrated, we have partnered with ACTSmart and ACT Health to install cold water stations and bubblers across the festival. Bring along your reusable water bottles to refill throughout the weekend.

I encourage all Canberrans to come along to the 2017 National Multicultural Festival to enjoy one of Australia’s favourite celebrations of cultural diversity.
