IMB backs vital ACT community projects

Released 25/07/2017

It was a pleasure to represent the ACT Chief Minister today at the announcement of the 2017 IMB Community Foundation grants at the National Botanic Gardens.

Each year, the IMB Community Foundation donates up to $500,000 to the communities it operates in.

The ACT Government encourages programs such as the IMB Community Foundation as good examples of corporate social responsibility, in which companies support their local communities.

This year’s ACT recipients are:

  • the Australian National Botanic Gardens, to extend a children’s learning trail;
  • Belconnen Baptist Church, to provide mental health training for a men’s shed project; and
  • the Royal Life Saving Society, to extend children’s access to its Belconnen Swim and Survive Program.

The IMB Community Foundation was established in 1999 as a way for IMB to provide financial support to community groups with positive ideas that generate economic, social, cultural, environmental and educational benefits for communities.

I congratulate the 2017 recipients and look forward to IMB’s grants helping these organisations do their good work more effectively to further benefit our community.
