Canberra’s chance to connect and participate

Released 25/07/2017

Canberrans of all abilities have the chance to engage, connect and discover all that our community has to offer at this weekend’s Connect and Participate Expo (CAP Expo) at the Old Bus Depot building in Kingston.

CAP Expo 2017 will feature over 110 stallholders with a range of displays, demonstrations and hands-on activities for all ages and abilities

Sports groups, social clubs and community associations will showcase their offerings to the community with the invitation to connect and participate and to get involved.

Connecting people is vital to having a strong, healthy and happy community.

Research has shown that social isolation can be as bad for our health as smoking and obesity. On the other hand, a strong social network can be as good for one’s health as food and exercise.

The CAP Expo plays a critical role in connecting people to our community and supports the ACT Government’s vision of increasing community participation in all aspects of life.

The Expo also complements other work being done to build a more inclusive society, and to break down barriers that might exist for some Canberrans.

CAP Expo 2017 is on Saturday from 11am – 4pm with free entry.

A Transport Canberra bus service will depart regularly for free from Platform 10 at the Civic Bus Interchange.
