Support the PANDSI Cake Off fundraiser

Released 12/05/2017

Minister for Health Meegan Fitzharris is encouraging Canberrans to get out and support the PANDSI Cake Off fundraiser this Saturday 13 May at Hyatt Hotel Canberra.

The Cake Off is an annual fundraiser for PANDSI (Post and Ante Natel Depression Support and Information). Last May, the popular Cake Off raised $20,000 and the 107 competitor spots were snapped up in 40 minutes. It also attracted cake enthusiasts from across the nation, and this year’s version will be no different.

“The ACT Government is committing to donate dollar for dollar matching for this year’s PANDSI Cake Off event – delivering a commitment we made during the 2016 election campaign as part of our 10 year plan for health,” Minister Fitzharris said.

“This popular event gets bigger and better every year. It will continue to grow and the ACT Government wants to encourage more community donations by matching dollar for dollar up to $25,000 a year over the next four years.

“I will be out there on Saturday to see the amazing cakes, and I’m hoping Canberrans will do the same by getting out and supporting this worthy and delicious fundraising event.

“I also hear there will be a special cake entry from one of my Ministerial colleagues and I’m interested to see how well they fare in the event, alongside my federal colleagues as well.”

This year’s event will be filled with Canberra-themed cakes ranging from a 3D hot air balloon, Telstra Tower, Floriade, Skywhale, the Belconnen Owl, Parliament House, Summernats and the War Memorial.

Every dollar raised will go directly to PANDSI who support over 300 families a year when they need it most. PANDSI have set up a GoFundMe with a goal of $25,000 to go towards supporting this cause,

This event is ticketed, with a cost of $5 for adults and children free. To buy tickets visit PANDSI’s TryBooking site.
