Bus wrap recognises TCCS’s National Reconciliation Week commitment

Released 30/05/2017

Transport Canberra and City Services have recognised National Reconciliation Week with a custom made Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander bus wrap which will tour the ACT for the next 12 months.

The wrap links back into the Transport Canberra and City Services Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP), which aims to provide practical actions which create greater equality and opportunity for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.

“I was pleased to hear that Transport Canberra’s draft RAP to Reconciliation Australia was well received,” Minister for Transport and City Services, Meegan Fitzharris said.

“A bus wrap with Indigenous artwork was one of the key commitments made in the draft, along with a presentation flower bed and a range of employment strategies.

“National Reconciliation Week is an opportunity to acknowledge where we have come from and to continue to build strong relationships, enhance respect and create opportunities for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.”

The wrap was designed by Ngunnawal artist, Lynnice Keen, who has previously decorated Canberra fire engines with her signature designs.

A copy of the Transport Canberra and City Services Reconciliation Action Plan is available on the TCCS website,  www.tccs.act.gov.au.
