Better community learning facilities at Woden Library

Released 25/05/2017

The upcoming ACT Budget will invest in better facilities at Woden Library, by relocating the Heritage Library to provide more local community learning areas.

The investment is important for community groups in the Woden area that will now have better access to public spaces with the relevant equipment for meetings and events.

“As the Woden branch is the busiest public library in the ACT, relocating the ACT Heritage Library to Fyshwick will allow greater scope for library and community programming at Woden, and for an expansion of community accessible facilities available for hire at that site,” Minister for Transport and City Services, Meegan Fitzharris said.

“A total of $1.573 million of Better Infrastructure Fund is being provided over two years to retro-fit the existing ACT Heritage Library site into community learning facilities.

“The funding will also fit-out a new location for the ACT Heritage Library on Canberra Avenue, Fyshwick.”

Community rooms at Libraries ACT branches are open to hire for any groups or organisations.  For more information about booking rooms at public libraries, visit www.library.act.gov.au.
