Eight screen artists across film, television and gaming were announced today by Minister for the Arts and Community Events Gordon Ramsay as recipients of the 2017 Screen Arts Fund.

“I would like to congratulate the eight funding recipients who will share in $86,000 to support their screen activities,” Minister Ramsay said.

“Screen Arts funding is an important element in supporting the diversity and vibrancy of film and screen activity across the ACT, and in showcasing the calibre of our screen artists. I am pleased that we have been able to fund a diverse range of projects including script development, short films, documentaries and gaming.

“Screen Arts funding provides important support for great artists and great art, a key aim of the ACT Arts Policy.

“The arts are essential to the cultural, social and economic fabric of our city, and this government provides significant support for the arts through funding and arts facilities.

The ACT Screen Arts Fund is managed by ScreenACT and is part of the ACT Arts Fund.

ScreenACT is also provided with Program funding of $82,500 per year for 2016 and 2017 from the ACT Arts Fund to deliver a range of development programs and services for local screen artists.

Through Innovate Canberra, annual funding of $250,000 is also provided to ScreenACT to deliver its commercial film activities.

ScreenACT is the ACT’s film, television and digital media office, and is hosted by the ACT Screen Industry Association Ltd.
