New Woden Access Canberra Service Centre offers 200 services for community

Released 25/07/2017

The Minister for Regulatory Services Gordon Ramsay today officially opened the new Woden Service Centre, which provides the community access to more than 200 ACT Government services in the one hub and supports revitalisation of the area.

The new Woden Service Centre is conveniently located in the Cosmopolitan Centre, Woden Town Square - just around the corner from the Woden bus interchange and only 50 metres from the Woden Shopping Centre, improving accessibility for the community.

“The Woden Service Centre is a great example of how Access Canberra is working to bring Canberrans more flexible and accessible services,” Mr Ramsay said.

“I was delighted to have the opportunity to welcome customers to the new Woden Service Centre and observe first-hand how the new facilities are making it easier, simpler and faster for customers to do business with the ACT Government.”

The Service Centre features an open plan design that builds on the success of the Gungahlin Service Centre which opened in 2015. Woden is also unique in its counter layout providing private and semi-private meeting spaces for customers, accepting electronic transactions only.

Another feature of the Woden Service Centre is the modern touch screens which allow customers to complete transactions easily online.  Friendly Access Canberra staff are on hand to provide assistance as needed.

Minister Ramsay also took the opportunity to visit Access Canberra’s new Southside Hub, which is located above the Woden Service Centre in the Cosmopolitan building.

The Southside Hub brings together 350 Access Canberra staff from five locations. More than 750 administrative staff from ACT Health will also move to Woden from this month.

“The ACT Government first committed to moving government employees to the Woden Town Centre in 2015 and I am pleased to witness the realisation of this commitment today,” Mr Ramsay said.

“I am advised local businesses are already feeling a positive impact from the move as the officers use their services. It has also significantly supported the revitalisation of a key building in the area through an innovative and modern fit out which will support ongoing improvements in service delivery.”

The Southside Hub is the largest example of Activity Based Working in ACT Government to date, enabling staff to choose flexible working spaces for the work they are doing and enhancing collaboration.
