Team CBR driving investment in defence

Released 05/09/2018 - Joint media release

Canberra-based defence organisations will this week promote the ACT as the best place for the defence and space industry to invest.

The ACT Government-led delegation, comprised of 10 world-class companies and institutions, are attending the annual Land Forces conference in Adelaide.

Included in Team CBR is Cogito, a Canberra-based cyber security company that has been shortlisted in the 2018 Land Forces Innovation Awards, and Electro Optic Systems (EOS), who in the coming 12 months is set to become Australia’s largest defence exporter.

The ACT delegation is led by Minister for Veterans Gordon Ramsay and includes representatives from the University of Canberra and UNSW Canberra.

“I am proud to be leading the Team CBR delegation. It truly demonstrates the strength and capability of our highly evolved defence and space sectors here in Canberra,” Minister Ramsay said.

“Land Forces is the premier event for the defence industry in Australia; I trust we can continue to promote Canberra as the place to invest.

“Our delegation, including ACT Defence Industry Advocate Kate Lundy and members of our Defence Industry Advisory Board, will be focused on connecting with international delegates to the conference, and advocating on behalf of Canberra region companies to drive further investment to the ACT,” Minister Ramsay concluded.

Minister assisting the Chief Minister on Advanced Technology and Space Industries Mick Gentleman reaffirmed that the Land Forces event was important for local defence and space companies.

“Canberra is Australia’s defence capital, with a high concentration of companies who are leading world-class development in this industry and it is very important that our city is represented at this premier event,” said Minister Gentleman.

Land Forces will take place until 6 September 2018 in Adelaide.
