New White Ribbon themed fire pumper unveiled

Released 25/07/2017

Minister for Police and Emergency Services Mick Gentleman has today unveiled the latest addition to ACT Fire & Rescue’s fleet, a brand new urban fire pumper to be housed at Kambah Fire Station.

“The $800,000 pumper serves as an example of the government’s ongoing commitment to continually updating the operational capabilities of ACT Fire & Rescue,” Minister Gentleman said.

“ACT Fire & Rescue already has an exceptional reputation when it comes to its response times and firefighting capabilities.

“This latest addition to the fleet will strengthen that reputation and allow our crews to continue the fantastic work they do to protect the Canberra community.

“Keeping local residents and their properties safe is, of course, our number one priority,” Minister Gentleman said.

“The new pumper has also been themed around the White Ribbon organisation, sporting messaging dedicated to preventing violence against women.

“The White Ribbon message is an important one that the ACT Government is proud to promote in support of our Safer Families initiatives. We hope that seeing our new pumper around town will help keep that message front-of-mind for the public.”
