Call for new members to ACT Heritage Council

Expressions of interest are sought from applicants interested in appointment to the ACT Heritage Council, Minister for the Environment and Heritage, Mick Gentleman announced today.

New appointments are needed due to a number of memberships expiring in June 2017.

“The Heritage Council plays an important role in the protection of our local history.” Minister Gentleman said. “I invite expressions of interest for the council from applicants with expertise in Aboriginal culture, Aboriginal history, archaeology, architecture, engineering, history, landscape architecture, nature conservation, object conservation, town planning and urban design.

“A representative from the property ownership management and development sector is also being sought.

“Appointment to the council is a rewarding experience.  The ACT Heritage Council is responsible in ensuring the recognition, registration, conservation and promotion of the ACT’s unique heritage places and objects, including natural, Aboriginal and historic heritage.” Minister Gentleman concluded.

Expressions of interest need to be submitted using the application form available at www.environment.act.gov.au/heritage or by calling Access Canberra on 13 22 81.

The closing date for applications is 13 January 2017.
