Repairs to Mt Ainslie and Mt Majura management trails
Work starts today on repairing several management trails on Mt Ainslie and Mt Majura, Director, ACT Parks and Conservation, Daniel Iglesias announced.
“Mt Ainslie and Mt Majura are two of the most popular recreational destinations with thousands of visitors each month,” Mr Iglesias said.
“Grading and general repairs will commence today on several management tracks, such as the fire access roads, in the reserves. These works are to repair damage caused by February’s extreme rainfall event.
“I encourage park users to exercise caution and keep well clear of any machinery or vehicles working in the reserves. Users should follow temporary traffic and pedestrian management signage and keep dogs on leash at all times.
“Work is expected to take several weeks and will be completed within two months.”
Mr Iglesias said a small section of the Campbell Track management trail (linking the Campbell end of Mt Ainslie nature reserve to the Ainslie/Hackett end of the reserve) will be closed for repairs for approximately two weeks from 18 July 2018. The section of trail will be closed to all users for the duration of the works with a temporary detour in place around the site.
ACT Parks and Conservation has timed the work for the slightly less busy winter period, and apologise for any inconvenience caused.
“The end result of the work will be safer and improved walking and management tracks in these two popular reserves,” Mr Iglesias said.
