Looking for added incentive to ride on one of Canberra’s many nature reserve trails? Well, you can now win great prizes as part of ACT Parks and Conservation’s Spring Rides photo competition.
“Our region has some of the best mountain biking options in the country and Spring is the perfect time to get outdoors, so why not combine the two by soaking up some sun and getting active with a bike ride?” Director of ACT Parks and Conservation Daniel Iglesias said.
“We want to encourage everyone to get out and about and share their experiences so we’ve organised a competition for people to submit a short video or some photos of their ride.
“An entry could simply be a lazy after work ride along a fire trail in your local reserve or it could be an adventure-filled mountain bike ride through the forests at Kowen or at Australia’s number one mountain biking destination - Stromlo Forest Park. It might even just be a photo of people standing in front of their bike while they enjoy a beautiful sunrise in one of our reserves.
“The beauty of Canberra is that our trails are so easily accessible and there’s options to suit riders of all skill levels ranging from technical, downhill trails through to flat fire trails.
“To enter the competition people can submit a photo or short video using the entry form on our website or on the ACT Parks and Conservation Facebook page (@ACTParks). Participants can also send their entries to email EPSDDComms@act.gov.au.
“We’ve arranged some fantastic prizes for the best entries. The winner can take six other people with them for an e-bike experience at Tidbinbilla with Canberra Urban Adventures who has just started running tours at Tidbinbilla. As well as going on a fun ride on the family friendly e-bikes for all ages to ride together, the tour includes a wildlife walk with an ecologist and is valued at $680.
“The runner-up prize is two tickets to a twilight tour of Mulligans Flat valued at $100. These popular tours provide a great opportunity to see some of Canberra’s most iconic – and nocturnal – animals when they come out and play.”
The winning entries will be judged by Jason Cummings, Chief Executive Officer of the Woodlands and Wetlands Trust.
