If you’re looking for love and don’t mind getting your hands dirty, why not come along to the Landcare for Singles tree planting event on Saturday 20 May 2017 at a Cotter Road farm, Stromlo.

“Most single people have probably heard of speed dating, but for those out there looking to meet ‘the one’, we’ve got speed planting,” said Rebecca Palmer-Brodie, ACT Regional Landcare Facilitator.

“It’s always a bummer when you get your hopes up ahead of a date and go home disappointed afterwards. The beauty of our event is that even if you don’t meet your match, you will still go home feeling good about yourself after having done something great for the environment. There’s also the added bonus of live music and a free tasty lunch.

“Rather than spending all that time swiping left or right on Tinder or trawling through internet dating profiles, come along and plant a new tree with a new person every eight minutes on a beautiful Canberra farm.

“Limited places are available for this outdoor event so book now to avoid disappointment. You never know, love might blossom along with the trees.”

“A friendly Greening Australia leader will be on hand to offer guidance – about planting.”

Greening Australia representative Ian Rayner said the speed planter’s hard work will support efforts to restore endangered Box-Gum Woodlands in the ACT.

“This forms part of Greening Australia’s broader program to enhance and re-vegetate nearly 300 hectares of the ACT and region each year. Not only is it important for our fragmented Woodlands, but for the animals who call them home, such as woodland-dependant native birds,” Mr. Rayner said.
