Park and reserve closures due to wet weather

Released 29/09/2016

The ACT Government wishes to advise the public of a number of closures in parks and reserves due to the current wet weather.

The closures include:

  • Tidbinbilla Nature Reserve (the Visitor’s Centre remains open)
  • Googong Dam southern entrance off London Bridge Road
  • Tharwa Bridge recreation area
  • Tharwa Sandwash
  • Majura Pines recreation area (closed until at least Friday 7 October 2016)

The ACT Government urges park users to exercise extreme caution due to the wet conditions and risk of fallen trees.

There are also a number of road closures in Namadgi National Park including Boboyan Road and Brindabella Road which are only open to four wheel drives.

Various fire trails, management roads and low level crossings such as at Pierces Creek are also being closed.

For more information on road closures across the region visit www.tccs.act.gov.au or contact Access Canberra on 13 22 81.
