Released 09/12/2016

ACT Parks and Conservation Service wish to advise that the Majura Pines recreation area has re-opened.

Throughout November, ACT Parks and Conservation Service Rangers and field staff have worked through the forest, removing fallen and dangerous trees. The Majura Pines Trail Alliance community group has also helped in clearing the mountain bike trails.

In early 2017 Parks and Conservation Service will harvest one third of the Majura Pines area in accordance with the Majura Pines Master Plan. The harvesting operation will take approximately 2 months to complete.

Only some trails will need to be closed during these operations and all trails will be protected wherever possible from damage by harvesting machinery.

In the 2017 winter the Parks and Conservation Service will plant a new crop of pine trees. These will provide shade and amenity for this valuable recreation area over the next 30 years.

ACT Parks and Conservation wishes to thank trail users for respecting the recent closure.
