ACT Government’s lead agency welcomes Performance Audit Report

Released 02/02/2018

The Chief Minister, Treasury and Economic Development Directorate has welcomed today’s report from the ACT Audit Office, on the ACT Government’s strategic and accountability indicators.

The report acknowledges the ACT Government’s commitment to accountability, praising the level of scrutiny and transparency demonstrated by our public reporting.

The ACT Government takes a proactive approach to refining and improving our processes and has worked cooperatively to support the ACT Audit Office throughout their preparation of this report.

The report has stated that the ACT Government’s existing accountability indicators are effective in measuring our performance, even advising it may be appropriate to have fewer accountability indicators, while indicating there is scope to improve the indicators that measure the ACT Government’s progress toward key strategic priorities.

The report acknowledges “there is no silver bullet for developing an ideal set of indicators,” however the ACT Government remains committed to streamlining our performance indicators to ensure we are delivering the quality services the Canberra community expects and deserves.

A formal Whole of Government response to this report, with reference to its recommendations, will now be prepared.
