ACT Digital Strategy bringing cohesion to the digital landscape
The ACT Digital Strategy released today will shape the digital future of Canberra by building on the work that is already underway to make Canberra one of the world’s smartest, most liveable and most innovative cities.
“Under the new ACT Digital Strategy our reputation for being Australia’s most connected city will be further cemented as we implement new projects, programs and initiatives that will grow our digital economy and benefit Canberrans,” said, Chief Digital Officer, Jon Cumming.
“Many new digital services, such as smart parking, online rates renewal and an integrated government regulator initiative funded in this year’s Territory budget, have already been implemented or are underway with the aim of providing faster, more efficient services to the wider community”.
“We will make the most of the exciting opportunities offered by new technologies and ensuring Canberra continues to be digitally innovative and dynamic for the benefit of the community”.
The ACT Digital Strategy focuses on three key digital priorities:
- Growing the digital economy – focusing on how the ACT Government will support the growth of local business both as a customer and sponsor.
- Delivering digital services – ensuring an innovative approach and efficient service delivery for citizens, community groups and business.
- Building digital foundations – to have cost-effective digital platforms and services.
“In seeking to help shape the digital future of our city, the ACT Digital Strategy puts Canberrans first by prioritising our local businesses, community groups and individual residents. We will be creating digital transformation with people, not to people,” Mr Cumming said.
The Strategy will be implemented over the next three years.
The ACT Digital Strategy is the work of the ACT Government’s first Chief Digital Officer, Jon Cumming. The full strategy can be found at www.act.gov.au/digital or you can contact Mr Cumming at email@example.com.
